Curtis D. McKnight Sr. of Saltsburg (tribunereview)
Curtis D. McKnight Sr., 83, of Saltsburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at
home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 25, 1928, in Six Mile Run,
Bedford County, he was the son of the late Harry H. McKnight and Grace P.
(Crooks) McKnight. Curtis was a 1946 graduate of Bell Township High School,
and lived in the Saltsburg Area since 1959. He was a member of the Loyal Order
of the Moose, Lodge 37, in Avonmore, the Kiski Heights Sportsmen's Club and
last, but certainly not least, the Ole Swell Fellas Lodge, the family lodge in
Potter County where he was the self-appointed Good King Swell Fella. Curtis
worked as a coal miner for Tunnelton Mining Company for 25 years, retiring in
1992. He loved golfing, playing guitar, watching sports and participating in
fantasy football leagues. He most enjoyed spending time with his family,
especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his
parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Mae (Horrell)
McKnight, who passed away Oct. 12, 2006; son, Terry Alan McKnight, who passed
away in 1978; and his brother, Donald "Sam" McKnight, who passed away in 2009.
